La sierra llorosa riega a los ríos,
Poco a poco, el aire no es tan frío.
Las aguas ya no son peligrosas,
Me suplican debajo el sol alegre.

M. Nicolás Cabrera Montiel

​​Nicolás Cabrera es un escritor neomexicano que tiene estudios de licenciatura en periodismo e historia, un diplomado de estudios avanzados, una maestría en español y una maestría en biblioteconomía e información. Se crió en una casa bilingüe en el vecindario histórico de Los Griegos en Alburquerque, Nuevo México, donde el español ha sido hablado por siglos. Escribe poesía y prosa tanto en inglés como en español. Para él, escribir en español es importante porque mantiene viva la lengua de su familia y cultura. Le gusta viajar, leer y tomar fotografías. Escribió para el servicio de noticias Frontera Norte Sur de la Universidad Estatal de Nuevo México en Las Cruces.

Sus obras han sido publicadas en México y Estados Unidos.

Nicolás Cabrera is a Neomexicano (New Mexican) writer who holds two undergraduate degrees in journalism and history, and graduate degrees in communication, Spanish literature, and library and information science. He grew up in a bilingual household in the historic Los Griegos neighborhood in Alburquerque, Nuevo México, where Spanish has been spoken for centuries. He writes poetry and prose in both English and Spanish. It is important for him to write in Spanish in order to keep the language and culture of his family and community alive. He enjoys traveling, reading, and photography. He previously wrote for the Frontera Norte Sur news service at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

His work has been published in Mexico and the United States.
